Pastorale: Music for Flute, Horn, and Electronics
Cascadian citizens Leander Star and Elise Blatchford team up to present an immersive experience of contemporary classical music with electronic and pre-recorded sounds, honoring Pacific Northwest composers.
Works will include "How to Stay Dry in Northern Oregon," a piece by Seattle-based composer Nat Evans that pairs recorded sounds from the Pacific Crest Trail and a live French horn player.
Other composers include beloved Portlander Tomas Svoboda, British Columbian Hildegarde Westerkamp, University of Washington faculty Richard Karpen, and the Seattle flutist Sarah Bassingthwaighte,
Leander will bring back some Memphis to Portland through the music of Renaissance man and hornist Robert Patterson. Elise will channel a composition by Brooklyn flutist Allison Loggins-Hull.
All this is going to get tied together with lighting design by Alexandra Deahl.
